Hi, I’m Jeff.
I’m a speaker, author, former youth pastor turned church planter, and more.
My wife and I are loving life with our two teenage boys who between them play soccer, tennis, electric guitar (yes, in a band that plays gigs and yes, we have guitar amps and drums in our garage… sorry, neighbors), read tons of books, play Pokemon, fantasy football, and keep life interesting. They are the reason that we ended up with over 20 people in my parent's’ backyard recently and the reason we ended up getting last minute tickets to a ZZ Top concert one evening. Yep, life with two teenage boys. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
My Story
I grew up in Southeast Virginia and early on faith became an important part of my journey. I had a great church youth leader who invested in me even when I gave him every reason not to. I went off to college and made a ton of bad decisions while rushing a fraternity (my fault not theirs… and yes, there’s a talk that’s come out of that season!) and ended up transferring to and graduating from Christopher Newport University. It was there I fell in love with my wife, Lauren.
While at CNU, God used Intervarsity Christian Fellowship to impact my life in powerful ways. I went to seminary, became a youth pastor, and even led a team to start a new church reaching college students.
As I’ve led people in seasons of faith and life, I’ve loved serving others in one-on-one settings as well as from the stage.
I’ve learned what derails others on their life and leadership journey. And I’ve learned what derails me! That learning led me to write a book, Digital Dominion: Five Questions Christians Should Ask to Take Control of Their Digital Devices.
Now, I serve a network of churches in Southeast Virginia (SBCVirginia) as a Regional Strategist. I have the privilege of coming alongside some phenomenal leaders and people to encourage them in their work. It really is an honor.
